CRS VAT is an independent firm of chartered tax advisers specialising in pro-active and innovative VAT solutions for the NHS. The Chartered Institute of Taxation is the senior professional body in the United Kingdom concerned solely with all aspects of taxation.
We are a SME, small enough to provide tailored specialist VAT services and build lasting business relationships, but large and technically experienced enough to cater to any size of NHS body, competing with even the largest blue chip firms.
We hold an ISO9001 certificate for our quality management system (“QMS”), assessed and awarded by the British Standards Institute. Our QMS consists of a quality policy, quality objectives and procedures which are regularly reviewed and independently audited.
We constantly seek to understand the changing needs of our NHS clients and changes to VAT legislation and in doing so, proactively develop ideas, opportunities, techniques and methodologies to address challenges. Proactive innovation means that we are constantly defining new opportunities and challenges and using the ideas generated to attempt to create new products and services based on those challenges.
In recent years, we have grown to become a leading provider of VAT services to the NHS and our clients include some of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. We have achieved this by consistently identifying increased levels of VAT recovery for our NHS clients and offering a flexible, tailored professional service.
Team experience and resources
Our team of professional VAT advisers has extensive HM Revenue & Customs and/or global accountancy firm experience, including working within HMRC’s dedicated NHS VAT team.
Processes and technology
Our VAT review processes utilise our NHS VAT experience together with proven methodologies and data analysis techniques developed over many years to identify all VAT recovery opportunities within an accounts system.
Our reviews are complemented by the use of technology, including industry recognised data extraction and interrogation software. This ensures that all possible VAT refunds are identified and claimed in a timely manner.
Statutory rules and compliance
We place great importance on keeping fully abreast of statutory VAT changes and HM Revenue & Customs (“HMRC”) VAT policy. This ensures that we remain proactive in identifying new opportunities for our clients to save VAT and avoid penalties.
We never advise or recommend NHS organisations to enter into contrived transactions designed purely as tax avoidance as defined by the Department of Health EL (97)70 and HM Treasury DAO (GEN) 08/03.
Higher VAT refunds
We can boast a 100% success rate of improving our client’s VAT savings, especially in areas overlooked by previous advisers. We often ‘re-review’ areas previously reviewed by our competitors and secure further VAT savings. Our innovation and attention to detail means that we are continually working on new ideas to enable our clients to legitimately save VAT.
Value for money
Our fees represent value for money and are only ever based upon work completed where we add value to our clients.
